Give It A Try!
One-Time Group Classes

Not ready to commit to a full course? Our one-time introductory classes are a low-stakes way to get your hands in the clay and see what it's all about. Choose from wheel throwing or hand building.

Give It a Spin — Throw and glaze two pieces on the potter's wheel. Last Saturday of each month at 4pm.

Give It a Pinch — Build a guided project from start to finish, no wheel required. Second Saturday of each month. Project will change each month.

Come solo or bring a few friends. Clay, glaze, and firing included. Work is ready for pickup about two weeks after your class. No experience necessary for either class.

This is not a private class. If you're looking for a private session, visit gumbolimbopottery.com/private-classes to see available dates and book your spot.

Give it a Pinch

No wheel, no problem. Come make a travel tumbler with us. There's something satisfying about building directly with your hands. In this one-time class, you'll learn the basics of hand building and complete a guided project from start to finish. Clay, glaze, and firing included. No experience necessary.

Give It a Spin

Never tried the wheel before? This class is your chance. Give It a Spin is a one-time wheel throwing class where you'll spend two hours at the potter's wheel making and glazing two pieces. No experience necessary, no commitment required. Come solo or bring a few friends — either way you'll leave with something you made with your own hands.

Policies

Suggested Attire

Pottery-making is naturally a messy activity.  While clay and glazes typically wash out of clothing without staining, we still suggest that you wear attire you do not mind getting dirty.  Please be aware that long nails will make it difficult to work with clay.  If you have long nails, we recommend trimming them before attending your class.

Cancellations and Payments

Payment is due in full at the time of booking. Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the class are eligible for a full refund. No reschedules — if you need to cancel, you're welcome to rebook a future date.

Class Length

Please arrive to your appointment 5-10 minutes in advance.  Late arrivals who miss the opening demo may forfeit their spot and will not be eligible for a refund.

Pick-up

Work will typically be ready for pick-up approximately two weeks after the date of your class.  We will notify you via email, text message, or phone call when your work is ready to be picked up. Items must be picked up within 30 days after notification.  After 90 days, unclaimed work may be discarded. Our schedule varies based on class times and market events, so it's always best to check our website for current hours before coming in to pick up work.
