Gumbo Limbo Pottery is a pottery gallery and studio in Kendall offering classes on the potter's wheel or in hand building. We have kids clay classes and adult classes scheduled during the day and in the evenings. Groups, couples, or individuals welcome and can be scheduled at your convenience. You can also shop for local, handmade ceramic art in our gallery featuring work from 6 Miami artists specializing in stoneware, porcelain, raku, earthenware, and more.

Hands & Feet with Puchi Noriega

(with 1 hour break for lunch)

Join our intensive workshop focused on sculpting realistic hands and feet in clay. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists, this course, led by Puchi Noriega, will teach you essential techniques and details for lifelike creations.

What You'll Learn:

  • Anatomy Fundamentals: Understand bone structure and muscle groups for realistic proportions.

  • Clay Manipulation: Use various tools to shape and detail your sculptures.

  • Proportion and Scale: Accurately match hands and feet to your figures.

  • Texture and Detail: Add skin textures, veins, and fine details.

  • Finishing Touches: Techniques for smoothing, polishing, and preparing for display.

Price includes clay and bisque firing of pieces. Students are welcome to use our studio tools or bring their own if they prefer. Pieces will be hollowed out and left for drying and bisque firing at Gumbo Limbo Pottery.

Participants can pick up their bisque-fired pieces approximately 3 weeks after the workshop. Students who wish to glaze their sculptures can arrange to come in at a TBD date for glazing.

 

About the artist: International artist, Puchi Noriega was born in Peru and now lives in Miami where she works in her home studio. Her lifelong relationship with art started at the age of three in her family’s ceramic studio and she "doesn't remember ever wanting to be anything other than an artist."

Puchi’s award-winning work is in many private and public collections. She has given art classes and workshops at various art schools as well as institutions in Peru, Canada, Costa Rica, and the US.
